My Confession: Bauer Nutrition Meratol Review
Losing weight should be easy.
When you get down to it, its a simple mathematical equation. And it goes like this.
Calories eaten – Calories burned= Net gain/loss in weight.
Simple. Easy. Fairly straight forward.
But unfortunately, as with most things in life, what appears easy on paper usually isn’t so.
Which is why, today, I am making a very revealing confession to you. It’s something I’ve struggled with almost everyday since I was a young child. Maybe you have felt something similar.
I used to be an emotional eater.
For those of you that don’t know, emotionally eating can be a huge problem, especially if you want to lose weight. And believe me, I suffered dearly for it.
It wouldn’t take much to set it off. It could be a bad day at work, bad situation with a boss or just an overall stressful day. And everyone has their own different ways of dealing with these stresses.
Some people meditate. Some people workout. And some people drink. No matter what you do, I’m sure you have some sort of activity to help deal with the stresses that you face in your life.
It wouldn’t be long before my habit of eating would rear its ugly head.
The Doctors Visit
I go to yearly checkups with my doctor like most of you. And every year I went was fairly standard. Turn this way, turn that way. Breath in, now out. Cough. You know how it goes.
But this year was much different. What I thought would be a routine checkup was about to turn into something much more sinister. Or rather, what would happen after the checkup would be where the guillotine dropped.
As most people with a few “rings around the wood”, I would get my blood drawn and taken back to the labs for testing. This is a fairly standard procedure to make sure that everything is working inside.
I never thought I’d hear it, but a few days later when I got the tests back I was floored by what I heard.
It turned out that I had pre-diabetes, high levels of the “bad” cholesterol. Combined with the fact that my blood pressure was through the roof (171/111) I knew that things weren’t good. My doctor let me know that.
Not only was in danger of being a diabetic, my doctor also told me that I would be at a major risk of a heart attack or stroke. It just so happens that have bad cholesterol levels combined with high blood pressure was not a winning formula (who would’ve known…)
Anyway, I knew I needed to act. And act fast if I wanted to live to see the day where I could walk my gorgeous daughter down the isle and be at my youngest son’s graduation.
The Search
Desperate and worried sick, I began my search for answers. Hoping for the best, I hopped on the computer and searched online for the fastest, easiest but more importantly safest ways to lose weight.
And boy was there a lot of info out there. Maybe you went through something similar in your search?
I mean we are talking military diets, keto diets, diets where you eat nothing but egg yolks for 14 days and do “power walks” in pool. There really was about 1,001 ways to “lose weight”.
While this was great to find, it was all so confusing. I mean, where do you start with all these options? Well, I decided with what I thought would be the easiest choice.
With a diet.
I went with the “Keto” diet (Diet where you don’t eat any carbs to induce ketosis in your body). I read that this was supposedly going to melt the fat off like an cup of frozen yogurt sitting in the hot Georgia sun.
And it did work… for about 6 days. But even worse, it was excruciatingly painful.
You might think that I lost a whole bunch of weight since it was so painful. Nope….
4 measly pounds.
“My God” i thought. If I am going through this amount of pain for just 4 pounds, this certainly isn’t going to work in the long term. I mean I could eat anything. I was down to a cup of tuna, a few carrots and 3 roasted chickens a day. Even worse, it tasted absolutely awful. And I was tired, cranky, moody and couldn’t think straight all day.
And to top it all off? When I had a “cheat” day for being such a good dieter, I gained almost all of the weight I lost basically overnight.
No thanks. Never agin. Yet the problem didn’t go away. I had to try a new fix.
Maybe the Gym Will Whip You In Shape
“Okay” I thought. Maybe I have to do things the old fashioned way. “If it hurts it works” was my fathers mantra. And what hurts more than working out? (For me at least). Still having high hopes, I signed up at the nearest Planet Fitness to begin my journey.
Bright eyed and bushy tailed, I waltzed onto the treadmill to start. After about three weeks, I had it up to here with it.
Now I went to the gym a lot, almost 4 times a week. You may laugh, but that was a lot for me, especially since I was used to going about 0 times a week. Nevertheless, I was disappointed with my results.
After 3 weeks or so, I was down about 3.5 pounds (And about 40 bucks in my bank account). “What gives?!” I thought. I was slaving away like a dog on that thing. I felt like one of those hamsters running around in a wheel.
Those results were even worse than the keto diet. Upset and frustrated, I started to search for another way to drop the pounds.
The Turning Point
It wasn’t for at least another 2 weeks before I really hit pay-dirt. I mean I was absolutely shocked at how quickly the weight came off. But let me start from the beginning so you have some background.
While I was at my planet fitness, I met a girl named Meg. She was a single mother with blonde hair and a very warm and welcoming personality. It turned out that she was there for the same reason as me, to kick some pounds off (duh).
But she was much better at it than me.

Well, it just so happens she did. And I was lucky enough to get it from her.

Meg then went on to tell me that she started to look into diet pills after trying diets and exercise with no luck.

So being upfront, I don’t Meratol is exactly a “magic pill”. There were some downsides with using it.

And also there was another thing. Since I was losing weight pretty quickly, after about 15 days I was noticing some stretch marks beginning to form. Now I really don’t have a solution for this, just take notice that anytime you rapidly lose weight stretch marks may happen.
